Outside-looking-in approach | "What would I think if someone else were in a similar situation? What advice would I give them?"

This is another great approach I like to use to overcome self-destructive and negative thoughts.

I try to look at the situation from an outside-looking-in approach.
I take myself out of the situation by looking at the circumstances from the outside.

This allows me to look at what is happening from different angles. I even ask myself, "What would I think if someone else were in a similar situation? What advice would I give them?"

Sometimes looking from the outside can help you put some distance between the circumstances and your feelings, while at the same time looking for the best possible solution.
